If I had to describe myself with one word it would be artist - a visual artist and an artist with words. My artwork is included in Ohio Online Visual Arts Registry. I'm working with various galleries in the Midwest to promote my oil paintings and abstract light photography.

Inspirations for Home Design

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky

The Riverfront

Cincinnati is my home town and my current base of operations for travel.  I have family in various parts of the metro area including across the river in northern Kentucky.  There are many things I love about this town – its location on the Ohio River, the active arts scene, and its international flavor.  I will be continually adding to the list of What’s Special, since this is MY backyard.

 What’s Special

The Riverfront – TWO STATES

Any mention of the riverfront in Cincinnati MUST include the riverfront towns on the Kentucky side since the two sides are linked by a pedestrian bridge, two interstate bridges downtown, and three other local traffic bridges that include pedestrian walkways.

Riverfest - SeptemberOH & KY

This annual event on Labor Day Sunday unites both sides of the Ohio River. Entertainment and activities start at noon and people arrive early to claim a place for family and friends on either side of the river to watch the end of the day colorful, explosive Rossi Fireworks shot from barges in the middle of the river.

Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals – OH

Many people will dine or park on the Kentucky side when attending the Reds Baseball games or the Bengals football games in our riverfront stadiums.

The Banks

Toby Keith’s I love this Bar & Grill joined The Holy Grail and opening early in 2012 Christian Moerlein’s Lager House in a new entertainment distict that is coming together at The Banks.  In development for years, The Banks is a key piece of prime commercial real estate on the Ohio River between the two stadiums and near the arena. It now includes shops, residential housing, a city park (being developed) with an event lawn, and the Freedom Center – all within a short cab ride or for many, an easy walking distance from downtown’s Fountain Square.

Newport on the Levee – KY

Topping the levee in Newport, this complex has entertainment, restaurants, and shopping and is the center for some regional festivals.

Showboat Majestic – OH – May-September

The last surviving, original and intact showboat, is now docked at Cincinnati’s Public Landing.  Launched in 1923, the Showboat Majestic traveled the Ohio River and its tributaries from April to October, stopping for a few days at river towns along the way to present a few of the season’s selection. Current theatrical presentations scheduled from May-September include musicals and comedies, good family fare.  Tickets generally under $20 per person include free, reserved parking on the Public Landing and great views of the river.

Hofbrauhaus – KY

Here the beer is brewed on-site under the license and supervision of Staatliches Hofbrauhaus in Munich.  You can raise a big stein in the huge Bier Hall or the shaded Bier Garden.  Those wishing to enjoy German fare favor the quieter dining room.  Newport: near Newport on the Levee.

Sawyer Point/Bicentennial Park/Yeatman’s Cove – OH – Summer FUN

Cincinnati’s riverfront parks are a favorite gathering place after work on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays for Party in the Park.  The free, live music event at Yeatman’s Cove Park from April through August has been rockin’ the river for 30 years.  The location about 5 blocks from Fountain Square and about a ten minute walk across the pedestrian only Purple People Bridge makes it easy to access the nightlife on the Kentucky side.

Macy’s Music Festival – August – OH

One of the biggest summer parties happens at Paul Brown Stadium.  The two-night event, Macy’s Music Festival, started as a jazz festival in 1962 and now embraces R&B, jazz, hip-hop, and soul music.

Main Strasse Village – KY

Galleries, shops and restaurants in the Main Strasse Village area of Covington schedule special events each month on the First Friday and have special events throughout the year.
