Ska-Nah-Doht Village and Museum – Mount Brydges, Ontario, Canada
In a beautiful Lower Thames Valley Conservation District you can study the flora and fauna of the area at the Nature Center and walk to the Ska-Nah-Doht Village, a re-creation of an Iroquois community from past times. Based on archaeological remains found nearby, the stockade structure and long houses have been built to show the way of life of the Native Americans who lived in the area.
Long Weekends said yes to this story idea for its 2015 spring/summer issue. You will see my name on the print story that was sleeved with the Ohio Magazine April 2015 issue. And, in a change that makes sense for our new technologies, they created an app which can be downloaded from the web site www.long-weekends.com.
SPECIAL NOTE: In 2015 the staff decided to try something new – night hikes and storytelling around a bonfire inside the village stockade – Tuesday nights only! If reading this after 2016 please check their web site.
