If I had to describe myself with one word it would be artist - a visual artist and an artist with words. My artwork is included in Ohio Online Visual Arts Registry. I'm working with various galleries in the Midwest to promote my oil paintings and abstract light photography.

Kentucky Horse Park

New additions in the Horse Capital of the World

The Kentucky Horse Park and International Museum of the Horse have grown in international stature since hosting the World Equestrian Games in the fall of 2010. Now visitors can benefit from the “extras” that remain as permanent additions: the park’s new Covered Arena and Outdoor Stadium and the museum’s new 8,000 square foot, $10 million Al-Marah wing that was planned specifically with younger horse-lovers (ages 8-14) in mind.

“Every light breed in the world has Arabian blood,” said Bill Cooke Director of the International Museum of the Horse, “so in good conscience we could devote a whole wing to this one breed.” Crusaders brought the light, faster Arabian horses back to Europe and Arabian blood ran strong in the horses that the Conquistadors and the English brought to Americas.

However, it’s not history but the interactive story lines that will captivate young visitors who can activate a touch screen to choose their own horse, select a name, and develop a personal story by selecting actions, making choices.  Other kiosks offer similar interactive experiences and since in the Bedouin culture the children were responsible for the care of the horses, there is even a tented exhibition that you can enter to pose with a life-size sculpture of a mare and colt at rest on the oriental rugs that line the tent floor – a great photo-op.

The Arabian has been a favorite of celebrities and has starred in classic movies such as “Black Stallion.” Valentino’s Jadaan was a favorite and is honored along with Arabian’s owned by Mike Nichols, Ronald Regan, and even the late Patrick Swayze who brought his horses to compete at the Kentucky Horse Park.  “The United States has been pivotal to breed.  We have the largest population of pure-bred Arabians in the world,” said Cooke.

The Kentucky Horse Park honors all breeds of horses so be sure to visit the Breeds Barn, take time to watch the performances at the outdoor arena, take a ride on the horse-drawn vehicles, and visit the informative displays in the museum and throughout the park.
