If I had to describe myself with one word it would be artist - a visual artist and an artist with words. My artwork is included in Ohio Online Visual Arts Registry. I'm working with various galleries in the Midwest to promote my oil paintings and abstract light photography.

Inspirations for Home Design

Myrtledene Bed & Breakfast

Enjoy the romance of history in a family owned home that so impressed Confederate General John Hunt Morgan that he spared the house while his Raiders burned and looted the town.

What’s Special

Privacy -being a special guest

“Since we only host one set of guests at a time,” said innkeeper James Spragens, “they have more privacy than most guests at a Bed & Breakfast.  We can set a fire in the wood-burning fireplace their personal enjoyment or develop a custom romance package.”

A veteran of the restaurant business who continued into catering, James culinary talents provide an impressive breakfast experience. He can  also provide good advice for other meals in town or at area attractions.

The home and gardens

Myrtledene has more than the romantic Civil War lore attached to General John Hunt Morgan and his raiders.  The home’s Southern graciousness is evident immediately and in warmer weather there is a terrace and gardens, simple yet refreshing, that add to the charming ambience of Southern living.

Midway on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Lebanon is just a few miles from Makers Mark Distillery in Loretto and others in Bardstown.  Bourbon tasting with the Colonel at the historic Chapeze House in Bardstown is a favorite stop for those traveling the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and James can help secure reservations.

At this time, the pricing per room with James’ fabulous breakfasts is $95 per night.  I mention rooms because a single person, or couple, would have the Rose Room and the second room would not be booked.  However, if a family is traveling, the second, smaller room that could be booked for children, and paid for separately.
