Glenlaurel: A Scottish Country Inn
Hocking Hills Escape to Romance
© Becky Linhardt 2012
If you can’t get away to the romantic Scottish Highlands, you might enjoy a bit of romance in the Hocking Hills of Ohio. The rugged terrain, the wooded landscape, the construction styles, and the village like placement of buildings all add to the charm of a Scottish-style experience. Take time to wander in the rolling meadow that crowns the hilltop entrance – it just might remind you of scenes from Brigadoon.
What’s Special
NEW The Scottish Links at Glenlaurel
Guests can play golf on the replica links-style course that harkens back to the centuries old Scottish courses. The experience will be enhanced by using more traditional golf balls (less distance) and following the rules of golf from earlier eras.
Bagpipes
At Glenlaurel a piper calls its guests to dinner on most Saturday nights, the sounds of the bagpipe echoing through the 140-acre property with its manor house style inn and individual crofts.
Natural beauty
You can wander the trails in the beautiful Camusfearna Gorge to the waterfall or admire the scenes outside your windows, maybe spot some deer scampering through the woods.
Privacy and customer service
Soak in the hot-tub on the privacy fenced deck of your croft or snuggle on the sofa in front of the massive stone fireplace inside. “Guests can arrange for an in-room dinner, if they prefer,” said Kelley Leonard, consultant at the inn. “We can schedule time for guests at the spa and suggest other romance-inspiring add-ons.”
Food, food, glorious food
If you are arriving early enough, I recommend that you enjoy the inn’s manor house dinner. In the summer breakfast on the inn’s multi-level deck offers guests restful views into Camusfearna Gorge.
Spa services
In a separate building tucked into a wooded glen, a team of spa specialists offer therapeutic spa and wellness services.
