If I had to describe myself with one word it would be artist - a visual artist and an artist with words. My artwork is included in Ohio Online Visual Arts Registry. I'm working with various galleries in the Midwest to promote my oil paintings and abstract light photography.

Inspirations for Home Design

African–American Heritage in Nashville

© Becky Linhardt 2010

Nashville is known as Music City and its African-American community has contributed greatly to its music heritage.  The city’s music scene has included major players such as Jimi Hendrix who recorded at the iconic Studio B.  There is also great pride in Nashville’s leadership in the national Civil Rights Movement and in its great institutions of higher learning such as Fisk University.

What’s Special

The Civil Rights Collection at the Nashville Library

“I came to Nashville not to bring inspiration but to gain inspiration from the great movement that has taken place in this community” – these words by Martin Luther King, Jr. are etched on the wall of the Nashville Public Library’s Civil Right Room at the downtown library.  Their collection of Civil Rights history includes photographs, oral histories, videos you can watch, as well as books. A sit-in campaign launched by the city’s four black colleges on February 13, 1960 was a major component of the Civil Rights movement.

African-American Genealogy

Nashville’s Main Library also has one of the largest genealogical collections available to African-Americans.

Jubilee Singers

Fisk University is home to the world-renowned Jubilee Singers, nominated for a 2010 Grammy for Gospel Performance: I Believe, Jonny Lang With Fisk Jubilee Singers.

Campus of Fisk University

The beautiful campus at Fish University includes historic buildings such as Jubilee Hall, the Carl Van Vechten Gallery with its world renowned Alfred Steiglitz Collection, and one of the loveliest Arts & Crafts Movement church spaces I have ever seen, the Fisk Memorial Chapel.
